Arbus supplied the event and security fencing for the finish of the penultimate stage of the 2013 Tour of Britain in Guildford in September.
While the big crowds and the millions of TV viewers had their eyes firmly focused on the field of top cyclists, including Olympic gold medallist and Tour de France winner Sir Bradley Wiggins and multiple Tour de France stage winner Mark Cavendish, as they sped over the Old Town Bridge in Guildford, we couldn’t help taking a peek or two at our fencing and handiwork.
The 96-mile stage of the Tour of Britain took place on Saturday 21 September, getting under way in Epsom and culminating in a final climb, and dash for the line, up Guildford High Street. The Arbus installation crew expertly put the security and event fencing in place on the evening of the 19th, and had it all dismantled and packed away the day after the race, returning the street to its tidy pre-race state.
It was another job well done, which we are very pleased about. We used high-quality Heras fence panels and red and white mass barriers on the Old Town Bridge – we only use the best quality fencing and our event and security fencing range comes in a wide range of sizes to suit the needs of every project.
It was great to see Mark Cavendish win the stage (he won the last one, too) and congratulations to Sir Bradley Wiggins for winning the whole thing!
